Bed Bugs

Inspection & Identification

A thorough inspection and accurate identification by a qualified pest professional is the best step to begin proper eradication. Bed bugs, like most other insects,  will take harborage in any suitable crack or crevice that offers them protection. Cluttered homes provides several places for bed bugs to hide in making locating and treating them even harder. Common hiding areas include mattresses, draperies, furniture, and unlaundered clothing.

To maintain bed bug control, a complete integrated pest management program is essential and should address sanitation, material application, and exclusion. Hiring experienced, responsible pest control professionals is the best chance you have of successfully getting rid of bed bug intrusions.

Our bed bug control program uses a misting system that creates high pressure effectively pushing

residual material into seams, cracks, and voids where bed bugs hide.

Step 1:

Treating your bedding is the first step in eradicating bed bugs. The technician will start by treating your whole bedding set including the mattress, box spring, and bed frame and all other areas where the bed bug's primary harborage areas are such as the headboard, nightstands, dressers, armoires, and upholstered furniture.

Step 2:

Treating all major cracks and crevices including the areas where carpeting meets the baseboards or wall surfaces, cracks around doorframes, and where crown mouldings abut wall and ceiling surfaces is the second area the technician will address

Step 3:

The technician will then inject a special material into each wall void to treat the hiding bed bug population.

Step 4:

The last step has the technician treat any artwork or other moisture sensitive items (books, etc.) in a plastic bag, by cinching the opening of the bag and emitting a one-second blast. The bags contents remain sealed in the bag long enough to allow the material to eradicate any bed bugs.

Encasement System:

We may recommend the installation of a mattress and box spring encasement system on each bed following treatment in order to prevent future bed bug infestations. An encasement system is a cost effective alternative to purchasing a new bed set being designed to protect you and your bedding. A typical encasement system consists of a fully sealed cover for the mattress and box spring that seals the bugs already in the mattress and/or box spring inside where they will die in a few months. It will also keep bed bugs out so the beds can't be re-infested.

Follow-Up Inspection:

A typical follow-up inspection occurs 7 to 10 days after the eradication service to ensure that the bed bug population has been completed. Re-inspections are required until the environment is bed bug free.

Feasting Facts:

Bed bug infestations commonly occur in or near areas where people sleep. Bed bugs are fast-moving and nocturnal preferring the host's head, neck, and upper extremities. Bed bugs feed from 4 to 10 minutes until engorged and will then crawl away unnoticed. Bed bugs hide during the day in the areas around the bed such as the headboard, nightstand, etc. Bed bugs will always prefer a human host and are attracted by body temperature, natural body odor, and carbon dioxide the host exhales.

Bed bugs inject saliva when they bite containing an anesthetic that prevents a person from realizing they are being bitten and an anticoagulant to thin the blood and increase its blood meal. Bed bug bites go mostly unnoticed by people until bite marks appear anywhere from one to 14 days after the initial bite.

When a couch is infested we recommend that the couch be steamed along with the standard chemical treatment. Bed bugs hide in the couch cushions, wooden framework, and upholstery and then emerge to bit people while they sleep. Couches come in so many different shapes and sizes that there isn't an effective way to encase them with bed bug proof material.

We use a standard chemical treatment.

We recommend that the customer purchase bed bug proof encasements for all of the mattresses and box springs in the house whether the room is being sprayed or not. Then the customer should remove clothing and bedding from the infested rooms and take them to a laundromat for high heat drying. Bed bugs die at 118 degrees. After that we do our chemical treatments and occupants must be out of the house for four hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • When will my regular service be done?
